Standing on top of this powder-capped peak you realize that not another soul has ever made this descent. Looking around you can see the world’s edge clearly defined. The mighty Pacific Ocean meets the rugged coastal mountains in sharp contrast. All scale has been lost and the view carries on and on without end. Civilization has forgotten about this part of the world, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. Your guide points to a small spot of blue and white floating in a fjord beneath you.
This spot is home for the next few days. The Ocean Explorer has positioned itself deep in the fjords of this rugged landscape and with an onboard helicopter offers all you will need for the experience of your lifetime. Its enthusiastic crew is dedicated to ‘your personal experience’. The food last night was first class, and your time in hot tub was certainly well earned.
After a big snowfall the skies have cleared up and this bluebird day is right out of the brochures. Your guide seems just as happy to be there as you do. He calls you over and describes the terrain beneath. He picks his line as if right out of the movies. A deep powder wash billows out around him. It’s your turn now. You drop in and time simply stops.
Amongst some of the biggest mountains and the deepest snow you find yourself floating in the sky. How will you ever appreciate lift-lines and groomed runs again? Turn after turn it keeps getting better and better, you have found your rhythm and at the same time your inner peace. ‘Can it get any better than this’ you ask yourself? As you approach the tree line from the alpine, an eagle is soaring beneath you. You pull up to your guide with complete and utter satisfaction. You are out of breath, your legs a little sore, and you ready to float once again.
