Where is it?
The ranch is located in the Chilcotin region of central British Columbia, Canada approximately 180km southwest of Williams Lake.
How long does it take to get there from Vancouver?
At roughly 700km, if you leave in the morning, it's an easy day's drive and will get you to the ranch by supper for an evening ride or hot-tub. Most people make it in just over 8hrs. If you ensure daylight for your drive, it's a beautiful scenic drive with a good chance of spotting wild horses.
How long of a flight is it from Vancouver?
The flight time from Vancouver to Williams Lake is just over 1 hour and the scenery is worth the added expense. As we do have a grassy landing strip, we can also arrange flights directly to the ranch.
What is the closest large town?
The nearest town is Williams Lake.
How many people does the ranch accommodate?
The ranch can accommodate groups of 40.
Is your ranch child friendly?
Absolutely! Our kid's coordinator is on hand to organize games and work with young children in the riding arena. Plus, if you let us know before you arrive, we can coordinate a night with the kids so you and your partner can share a private evening together.
How many cabins are there?
There are 7 cabins, and a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom privately situated Hill House.
How many rooms in cabins?
2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room.
Do you bring your own food?
We are an all-inclusive holiday. All meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the price of your stay.
Can we make special dietary requests?
Absolutely, we are able to cater to special dietary requests. Please inform us of your requirements prior to arrival and we'll be happy to help.
Are there house cleaning services, or do we clean our own cabins?
Yes we have full housekeeping services.
Is the ranch wheelchair accessible/friendly?
The ranch would be challenging for those requiring assistance, there is no pavement and there are steps into the cabins. However we can certainly make every effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and provide help whenever needed.
Can someone teach me to ride? Even if I've never ridden?
Absolutely, the experienced wranglers will take you into the arena for lessons before hitting the trail. There is no need to worry; many guests at our ranch are beginner level riders.
What is there to do in the evenings?
We have a western themed lounge, dances, a fully licensed bar, and a well equipped games room. For those who enjoy their evenings outside, the deck has a beautiful view and there is bocce ball, horseshoes and a campfire area. The hot tub and sauna are a nice relaxing alternative.
Do cell phones work? Internet?
Unfortunately there is poor cell-phone coverage in the area. However, there is a guest services computer where you can check your emails and you can always use the lodge phone if you need to get in touch. Long-distance calling cards are available for purchase in the gift shop.
What do you do in case of a medical emergency?
There is a local health clinic in the valley, and Medivac is available for serious injuries.
Does your staff have first aid experience?
Yes.
Is there someone there to look after our kids if we want to go riding?
No problem, we have a kid's coordinator.
What do we wear?
You will need boots with heels, although we have a supply of cowboy boots for those without. We recommend comfortable jeans or long pants for horseback riding and the rest is your preference; however, our guests usually keep it simple with t-shirts, shorts, running shoes and sweaters/layers for the evening. Oh, and don't forget your bathing suit!
What is the weather like?
Snow sticks around until late May and is followed by very flexible weather patterns in June, so be prepared for possible showers and/or chilly evenings. Typically it's sunny throughout the main summer months (July and August and into September) reaching temperatures of approx. 35°c. Keep in mind that we may get some rain. Can we bring our dog?
We do allow some dogs, however, only under certain conditions! There are many other animals at the ranch including horses, cattle, cats and other dogs, which means that your pet must get along and play well with other animals. As well, we only offer two pet friendly cabins and, even then, do not allow them on any furniture including beds and couches. These policies are in place to provide a high level of cleanliness and safety to all guests.
