Our existing team at Elkin Creek Guest Ranch is second to none.  We work and live together for the 6 month season and have re-defined the word ‘teamwork’.  As well as the responsibilities that are part of the individual titles, we work with each other in every aspect to get the job done.

We are now hiring staff for our 2012 season at the Elkin Creek Guest Ranch (early spring to October) and invite qualified applicants to email/fax your resume for the following positions.

 

Chef: experienced, energetic, professional, independent chef required.  The position is responsible for the preparation, presentation and delivery of breakfast, lunch and dinners (including snacks, barbecues and cookouts).  Menus and scheduling will be planned in conjunction with the Lodge Manager.  We are looking for someone who: •Can effectively attend to guest preferences and requests such as special diets and food allergies •Maintain a thoroughly clean and organized kitchen, prep areas, coolers and dry storage. Elkin Creek has an open kitchen concept, which requires friendly guest relations and a neat and tidy appearance. Our Chef must •have Food Safe certification •have previous cooking experience in a high-end setting •have excellent time management and organizational skills •be in good physical condition (must be able to lift 50 lbs) •be able to bake homemade breads and pastries •prepare high quality food in a timely manner •execute effective and attractive presentation of the food.  Must be energetic, have a positive attitude and treat guests and fellow staff with respect and consideration.

A good fit for this position is someone who savours independent living in an isolated wilderness setting with limited access to communication or traditional social life.

 

Junior Wrangler/Housekeeping: A unique position created for the 2012 season for that special person who would like to learn and grow with a team.  A trainee position that is varied in nature and challenging.  An ongoing training program with our wranglers would be established  and scheduled between other duties and itineraries. This trainee would be asked to assist on trail rides and other horse riding related activities to assist and fill in during other wranglers time off. 

Keeping our beautiful ranch clean and well maintained is as important as any other single aspect of our operation. Our house-keeping staff is responsible to upkeep our main lodge inclusive of the laundry room, the guest cabins, sauna house and outside areas. The main duties are: changing towels, changing & making beds, cleaning bathrooms, taking out the trash, vacuuming, washing windows, dusting, and various other cleaning related activities. Must be willing to perform all duties as assigned, which would include kitchen cleanup shifts. This position would be divided between the two duties of Junior Wrangler and Housekeeping.

 

Desired assets for all positions: References• Valid driver's license preferably with experience in driving standard vehicles • German or French language knowledge • First Aid Certificate • Serving It Right Certificate • Food Safe • A criminal record check will be mandatory
